My Ugly Couch

It's ugly isn't it? It's so ugly I decided to enter it into the "No More Ugly Furniture" contest held by BoConcept. If I win I can use the $7000 towards a new couch. Won't you please help me out and vote for my ugly couch?

Thin Is In

If you already haven't figured out I'm using my blog to document the things and looks I want to incorporate into my house when we renovate. With that said let's move on to today's wonderful "I want item", this Fagor 24" no frost refrigerator. Price tagged at $1699 it's apparently reasonably priced. I don't know about you but I never thought I would buy a $1699 refrigerator but then again I also wasn't as big of a snob when it comes to my home furnishings as I am now. That means I'll have to pay for the damn thing if I want it in the kitchen.

This 24" no frost refrigerator measures 24 x 24 x 78 3/4 which is true cabinet depth and is the healthiest refrigerator on the market according to Fagor. Depending on how we lay out the stove and sink we may not have much room for a wide refrigerator so this could be perfect for us!

We're upgrading!

Come Spring my family and I will be upgrading our house and redoing the downstairs bathroom, kitchen and attic. I'm hoping this will be less painful than when we redid my bathroom but I'm sure they'll drive me insane nonetheless. At least this time I won't be kicked out of my room. I expect we'll have someone draw up plans and what not, get them approved (I live in one of those historic landmark houses) and then start the rebuilding. In the mean time I saw these awesome cubes called Cubits from DWR (Design Within Reach) that are way expensive but I feel worth the investment. To begin they are eco friendly thus the $200 price tag per set of 4 cubes. I'll probably need at least 2 sets for the space I'm looking to fill, maybe even 3 (I have some measuring to do tonight). The bigger question is how easy are they to take down and move with you?

Swirly Corner Design

I love the swirly design above the books in the corner. I'd like to replicate something like that in my room once I declutter it. Stay tuned as I plan on redecorating in 2008.

New Room Update

Here are some photos of my room with all the brand new Ikea furniture. It's a work in progress (like everything else in my life) but it's cozy. Now that I'm back to work from my faux vacation I won't get to spend so much time there. I've also decided to slowly start making my room easy to move for the next time I have to move out of my room. Hopefully the next move will be into my very own apartment. That's not going to happen for a long while though.

New Room

I'm a bit swamped right now with work, freelance and home renovations but I wanted to share these latest photos of my brand new room with you. New sparkly wood floor installed by Alexis' family!

Still laying down the new wood panels. I didn't know my floor was made of slanted planks. The house is old but it was built pretty well!

Photo taken from doorway.

A new coat of pink and new wood floors!

Construction

My house has been in construction phase ever since June. It took over 2 months to finish the bathroom then another couple of weeks to finish the walls of my room. Now we're tackling the floors. That's right instead of carpet we've decided to redo the wood floors. As I sit here typing away there is major floor renewing going on. You guys need to come over and see how new this place is going to look. It'll be like stepping into a new house. Too bad I'm kitty sitting for a week and half so I won't be able to move in just yet. Yeah I know...what a hard life!
